A published version is never edited. A later version supersedes an earlier one by existing and by naming it; the earlier URL keeps its original bytes so anything that cited it keeps resolving.

Licence CC0-1.0. The digest is of the Markdown, which is the document of record; the page you are reading and the JSON beside it are generated from it. A persistent identifier makes a document citable and permanent; it does not make it right.
